Look out for the upcoming launch of the 2019 National Scratch Competition during EU Code Week (6th – 21st October 2018). This national coding competition is brought to you by the ICS Foundation and supported by Lero – the Irish Software Research Centre. The Scratch Competition promotes computing and software development at both primary and secondary school levels. The competition is open to students in primary and second level schools in Ireland, and to students attending after-school coding clubs such as Coderdojo.
Schools all over Ireland are now invited to register and take part in this year’s competition. Teachers and entrants may avail of free downloads, including dozens of download lesson plans, workbooks and other resources for teaching and learning Scratch in the classroom. The closing date for receipt of Scratch projects is Friday 22nd February 2019.
All participants receive a Scratch completion cert with the top scoring projects going through to a grand final, taking place during Tech Week 2019, where the overall national winners will be announced.
