Persons wishing to become an Accredited ECDL Tester must complete an application form as currently required by ICS Skills. They must have evidence of appropriate qualifications and attend a Tester Training session as given by ICS Skills.
Individuals will be accredited as ECDL Testers by ICS Skills only at the request of an accredited ECDL Test Centre or if the applicant has completed the Certified Training Professional Programme.
Qualifications required to become an Accredited ECDL Tester
- Previous experience in training and testing.
- Technical competence in all modules of ECDL, evidenced by either qualification or experience. It is highly desirable that a Tester has received their ECDL and completed the ECDL Certified Training Professional Programme.
Recruitment of Testers
- A minimum of two Testers is required in a Centre.
- The Co-ordinator must ensure provision of additional Testers as necessary to maintain this number at all times.
- Testers may be recruited as already accredited. In this case it is the responsibility of the Centre to verify the certification and the identity of the Tester.
Certificate display
The Centre must display Test Centre Staff Training Certificates for all staff in such a way that they are drawn to candidates’ attention. Certificates for full and part time staff must be displayed.
The Co-ordinator must maintain a list of all accredited Testers used by the Centre. If any Tester who is already accredited is recruited, the Co-ordinator must advise ICS SKILLS in writing before such Testers are permitted to act for the Centre.
Recertification policy for ECDL Tester Trainers
As the IT industry is continuously evolving, it is in the interest of the quality and integrity of the ECDL programmes that holders of the Tester Training certificate should re-attend Tester Training every 5 years. Therefore holders of a Tester certificate that is more than 5 years old must re-attend Tester Training *. Tester Training certificates more than 5 years old will not be valid.
*(From 1/08/07 holders of 5-year old or more Tester Certificates will be allowed 12 months to re-attend Tester Training, with the exception of Test Centre Co-oordinators who must re-attend within 6 months. After one year from that date there will be no further concessions.) |
