Many ECDL Training and Test
Centres are now offering courses in ECDL Advanced. The reputation
which these centres have built up and the high standards
which have become their mark, are applied with the same
enthusiasm to the ECDL Advanced programme as to core level
ECDL. Many of these centres have trainers who have completed
the Certified Training Professional programme, evidence
of their professionalism and expertise.
As with the core level ECDL, there is a variety of training
options open to ECDL Advanced candidates. Instructor-led
training as indicated above, is available at many training
centres. Some of these courses will utilise a text-book
from the range of ECDL Foundation approved courseware.
Other options include the multimedia approach, where a student
manages their own training using ECDL Foundation approved
CD Rom courseware.
ECDL Courseware
The ECDL is vendor-neutral certification programme, and
therefore a candidate can use any computer platform and
corresponding software applications, so long as they have
the functionality to cover the tasks on the syllabus.
There are a number of approved courseware providers who
produce materials for teaching and learning the knowledge
and skills prescribed in the ECDL syllabus.
A listing of these approved courseware providers can be
found on the ECDL Foundation’s website www.ecdl.com
Training centres and trainers are at liberty to develop
their own training materials, but they must ensure that
all syllabus items are covered.
