When a candidate is ready to
sit an ECDL Advanced test, they must be assigned an Advanced
Test Unit (ATU) by the test centre.
All ECDL Advanced tests are administered manually by accredited
testers.
Each ECDL Advanced module test consists of 20 questions
worth 5 marks each.
The pass mark, as determined by scientific methods of criticality
and cut score analysis, is 75% for all modules (15/20 questions
fully correct).
Marks for each question can be award in full or in part,
depending on the nature of the question and in accordance
with the marking scheme provided by the ECDL Foundation.
The management of ECDL Advanced candidates and test records
is totally automated. When an advanced
test centre application has been approved by ICS Skills,
the centre agrees to purchase 10 Advanced Test Units (ATU’s).
All advanced test candidates are registered on the website.
The centre allocates one ATU for each module for each candidate.
The candidate then has three attempts to pass a test in
that module. Test results are entered into the administration
system, and the certificates are automatically issued by
ICS Skills.
