SKILLSCERT is a programme that enables individuals and organisations to profile,
validate and certify their job roles and skills as ICT professionals, to a consistent
and recognised standard. SKILLSCERT was developed in response to a number of issues
which cause concern in the ICT industry: |
Job roles lack definition according to an industry standard |
The essential nature of job roles remains constant amid technological change |
Job roles are frequently defined solely by the technology being used. |
Non-technical roles and skills of ICT practitioners have not been routinely identified
or described |
Many ICT professionals develop important skills in an informal way |
The professional experience of the ICT practitioner has not been recognised or accredited |
Planning career paths is a challenging task for ICT practitioners |
ICT practitioners have not experienced the sense of belonging to a profession |
SKILLSCERT addresses these issues in a practical manner, providing a new way to appraise
the skills and responsibility levels of those who work in the ICT industry.
SKILLSCERT utilises a custom built online application to enable ICT practitioners
to profile their particular skill sets as they relate to their jobs and the level
of responsibility they command in the workplace.
SKILLSCERT enables these profiles to be validated by the provision of supporting
evidence, and by an internal verification process within the organisation.
SKILLSCERT provides for the certification of an individual's skills following independent
verification of the profile by ICS SKILLS. |
ICS SKILLS are hosting a series of free SKILLSCERT seminars which are open to organisations who would like to learn about running the programme for staff. Individuals who are interested in achieving SKILLSCERT independently are also welcome to attend.
